The Rastrick Notebook

Manuscript notebook belonging to John Urpeth Rastrick used to record details of the Rainhill locomotive trials, 1829. Rastrick was a judge at the Rainhill trials. The notebook includes sketches of all the locomotives that were part of the trial, including the winner, Stephenson’s Rocket. It notes dimensions, weights, observations and timings from the runs themselves.
