This thangka depicts Amitabha in the centre flanked by Avalokitesvara, Mahasthamaprapta (or Vajrapani) and the other Eight Great Bodhisattvas, and a large number of people are depicted around the lotus pond in which people are reborn in Sukhavati. A distinctive feature of this thangka is that there is no pavilion behind Amitabha, and heavenly beings can be seen hovering in the sky dotted with auspicious clouds. Among the clouds in the upper left and right are depicted the land of other Buddhas, such as Aksobhya's realm of Abhirati.
Although a modern work, it is well-executed and in good condition, and it may be described as a unique work among the depictions of Sukhavati in the Hwajeong Museum's collection.
