This is an ivory handle of a cane made in about 1850 in France. The curving cross-piece is terminating in a cluster of four cherubs, one on top of the other; the two topmost hold a ball between them. In style it broadly resembles figures after François Du Quesnoy. However the sweeping form of the whole suggests it is a historicizing piece of the mid-nineteenth century.
