Wrocław, Poland

The pictures, painted in the style characteristic of Silesia, referred to as the style of Beautiful Madonnas (Shöne Madonnen/ International style) depict the Annunciation and the Visitation of St Elizabeth surrounded by other Saints – St Peter and St Paul, St Lawrence, St Hedwig of Silesia, St Dorothea, St Abbot Louis, St Anne and St Mary Magdalene. On the reverse of the altar wings there are placed images of St James the Minor, St Philippe, St John the Evangelist, St John the Baptist, St Katherine and St Barbara. This work is one the very few examples surviving in Silesia of the altar setting decorated in the style of Beautiful Madonnas.
