A Pictorial Map of Mountain Geonji in Jeonju

This is a pictorial map of Geonji Mountain’s landscape features in Jeonju, North of Jeolla province. Geonji Mountain was considered a sacred place since the ancestors of Yi of Jeonju family resided in here for a long time. The picture is composed to show the whole view of the mountain based on the progenitor Yi Han’s tomb area. The picture is estimated to have been painted in 1899 (Gwangmu 3) to commemorate the repair work on the graveyard such as gravestone. This picture, particularly, shows the exact location of the tomb area ‘Jogyeongdan’ in the whole Geonji mountain range.
