This colorful pictorial map shows the border area between Korea, Russia and China in 1880s, around the Tumen River and Nokdun Island. Kim Gwang-hun and Shin Sun-wook investigated on the area around the Tumen River and Yeonhaeju (Russia) for 16 years and produced this map. ‘Aguk’ is short for ‘Arasa’ which means Russia. The folded map is actually one big paper. In the map, information such as the number of the households, population, local products, military situations and distances are described in details. This is the unique version of Jangseogak.

  • Korean caption: 1880년대 녹둔도를 비롯한 두만강 유역의 한국, 러시아, 청 사이의 국경 현황을 회화식으로 그린 채색 지도첩이다. 김광훈(金光薰)과 신선욱(申先郁)이 16년간 두만강과 러시아 영토인 연해주를 정탐하고 온 내용을 토대로 작성했다. 아국은 아라사(俄羅斯)의 준말로 러시아를 의미한다. 그림은 전체 한 장으로 이어진 것을 첨장으로 나누어 묶었다. 지도에는 지역별로 가구수, 인구, 물산, 군사관계, 거리 등을 상세히 담았다. 장서각 유일본이다.
