A rooster jug with the spout on the beak and the spout on the tail which is scalloped. It is glazed. Unlike other Andalusian provinces studied by Andrés Carretero Pérez, Carmen Ortiz García and Matilde Fernández Montes, the pottery in the province of Almería was studied by Celsa Paoletti Duarte and Ángel Pérez Casas.
Sorbas was one of the important pottery production centres in the second half of the 20th century with over 50 potters. At the time of the ethnographic research two potters were left in Sorbas: one belonging to Juan García Larios and sons, and another to Juan Mañas García and family. The town's typical production has been maintained thanks to the decorative sense of plates, orzas (earthenware jars), mugs and bowls although a key factor here was the recovery and renewed appreciation of dishes whose preparation required the use of typical heat-proof clay pots.
