Globally, one in three women experience either intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence during their lifetime. In India, 30 percent women in India in the age group of 15-49 have experienced physical violence since the age of 15. In some countries, violence against women is estimated to cost countries up to 3.7 percent of their GDP – more than double what most governments spend on education (World Bank, 2018). A change in this has to be a top priority, not just for economic growth but also for our progress as human civilization.
