An etching titled, A view on Rotterdam Harbour II by the Dutch-Canadian artist Anthonius Philippus (Antoon) Derkzen van Angeren (1879-1961). This etching depicts the subject of three large steamships, some of the barque type and others docked in the harbour. Van Angeren executed, this same ship scene several times from 1913 to possibly show the development or lack thereof within the harbour. Short Biography: Antoon Derkzen van Angeren was born in Delft in the Netherlands in 1878. He first worked at the Porceleyne Fles ceramic factory as an artist after which he moved to Rotterdam in 1911 and became a lecturer at the Academy for Fine Arts where he worked until 1943. In 1952, he immigrated to Canada where he passed away in 1961. Derkzen van Angeren is seen as the founder of graphic art in Rotterdam.
