What was once our forefathers’ waste has become one of our most important sources of material from past eras – archaeological finds mainly consist of objects that became buried when they were thrown away. Among the archaeological material from medieval and modern refuse pits, we find remains of people’s food, such as animal bones and shells, in addition to broken glass and clay vessels.
