Seafood like mussels, squid, shrimps and octopus are consumed in Istanbul, on the coasts and islands of Turkey. Ahtapot Yahni (Octopus Stew) is one of the popular dishes of Bozcaada island of Turkey in the northeastern part of the Aegean Sea. The stew is prepared with octopus, onion, tomato, red pepper, olive, white wine and black pepper. Students in 'Turkish Local Cuisines' class at the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at Yeditepe University also learn about regional dishes during their education.
