Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, founded in 2003 by Bedrettin Dalan, is the first Gastronomy and Culinary Arts program established in Turkey. We are dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the rich Turkish culinary culture in an academic milieu and to the promotion of this culture throughout the world. The program offers a wide range of courses on food; such as, food science, new product development, food and beverage management and marketing, food culture and history, world cuisine, food styling and photography, baking and pastry, classical and modern culinary techniques as well as, Turkish and Mediterranean cuisines, both in undergraduate and graduate levels. The program has four concentration areas, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Gastroartology®, Culinary Science, and Food Design. The department is pioneering the field of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts in Turkey. Yeditepe University Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts has partnership agreements with the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair, “Food Culture and Development”, represented by Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Spain, and Ecole Ducasse-ENSP in France. Our department is the only department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts in Turkey to produce Patents.
