Fragment of rim and neck of amphora with tear off of one of its handles. The edge has the characteristic triangular section profile with its protruding and pointed lower part. It has a hard and refined ceramic paste, pinkish beige in color (Munsell 7.5 YR 7/4), which presents abundant fine-sized degreaser consisting of quartz inclusions, along with others of beige, brown, light and dark reddish color, frequent lumps small calcareous stones, along with shiny sheets corresponding to mica. The reddish-brown inclusions, with rounded contours, appear isolated in large fragments that can occasionally reach 4/5 mm. This paste corresponds to the productions of the Tyrrhenian area, very different in its composition from those containing volcanic inclusions, which characterize those of the Vesuvian area.
The piece was located on the lot at Sepulcro Street, 1-15, on May 4, 1990, in the "Door Area" sector, "Old Fill" level. This is a container for wine from the Tyrrhenian coast of central Italy.
