Text and files edited by Filippo Tuena published in Stefano Susinno, Drawings by Tommaso Minardi, exhibition catalog (Rome. National Gallery of Modern Art, 21 October 1982 - 9 January 1983), Rome 1982
Album with leather-bound spine and marbled-paper cover; containing 49 leaves of brown card. A paper label on the spine bears the words: “Album VII”. Artist’s bequest, 1871.The album currently contains one extra drawing in addition to the 103 drawings specified on the label. Minardi presumably considered it a form of “work in progress”; in fact the leaves of the album bear fragmentary traces of drawings that have been glued in and subsequently removed. Three of the drawings represent Christ; the remaining 100 are all connected with apostles, martyrs or prophets.
