Armadillo messicano (Mexican armadillo)

This artwork, featuring the Mexican armadillo, is displayed alongside other examples of exotic flora, including tropical fruits like the papaya and cocoa plant. Such examples, ones that could not be found in his daily activities, were instead inspired by Gilardi's numerous travels.
