Inspired by the life lesson of Johan Petit from Belgium, "Stop at the red light."

The artist Sarah Kaushik shares about the work, "It is important to me as an artist, to delve into the mindset of the author to interpret their letters. Where are they coming from, how are they feeling, what is the mood of the text? Are they narrating a tale set in the daytime or at night? Are they observing a scene from a distance, or are staged in it? Perhaps most of the time the story always makes the author see things from a distance, a zoomed out version of their life even though they may be in the middle of it all. All these aspects help me to define the color palette of the visual, the multiple elements that become a part of the whole."

Sarah began her professional journey in 2010 with Siddhartha Das Studio in Delhi, where she worked on a permanent exhibition as a part of restoring a heritage monument of its art. She worked with curators and about 30 traditional miniature painters and craftspeople to execute the scenography. After that, she worked on the scenography for Asia’s largest Art Program at the Mumbai International Airport next, where she was an assisting scenographer at Rajeev Sethi Scenographers. The project took her through the process of working with more than a hundred artists and artefacts and developing the spatial staging, with regard to both thematic content and choreography, to translating the content into its physical form at the site.

She began working with digital montages in 2017, applying the same knowledge of building narratives, only in a two-dimensional space creating provocative juxtapositions to explore the concepts that intrigued me.

Currently, she is pursuing a Masters in Scenography in HKU Utrecht, Netherlands to further her understanding of Scenography.

World Wisdom Map is a unique project that documents the life lesson and story of people from each of the 195 countries in the world. The collation and exhibition of human wisdom is presented on a digital, artistic and interactive world map. The data has also been designed into education and art resources. This consciousness project combines visual, and wisdom anthropology that exists in the world and further sparks awareness about the diversity of lifestyles, as well as the coping mechanism that people employ to create a meaningful life. Using the tool of technology, it is easier to connect and exchange information to ignite hope and global participation in an unbiased and creative way.

World Wisdom Map is conceptualised by Project FUEL, in association with Singapore International Foundation.
