Museo di Castelvecchio
Verona, Italy

The play of light and dark (chiaroscuro) and color in the altarpiece reveals the Mannerist formation of the artist. Ottino was a pupil of Felice Brusasorzi, son of Domenico, who headed the major artistic studio in Verona at the end of the 16th century, an academy which educated the best painters of the Veronese school of the next generation.
