  • Date: 1881
  • Provenance: the title for this painting is not known; ”Babes Ascending” is the title given to it by a former Hayes Presidential Center director, Les Fishel, in the 1980’s. There is a letter from C. T. Webber to President Hayes where he mentions ”...the picture of your children is ready....I ordered a suitable frame...” dated April 23, 1881. It is believed he was writing about this portrait.
