During the end of the 19 Century, the slip was used as undergarment in Spain to reshape the female figure; in Boyacá the number of slips and their shape showed the social position of countryside women, additionally the slip was also used to help the way skirt fell downwards while retaining a shape.
A red slip was used in ceremonial manners through indigenous traditions, which the indigenous ancestor would use red dyed cloths during religious ceremonies.
