Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares de Sevilla
Sevilla, Spain

Aquamarine satin cushion with an overlaid reinforcing seam of embroidered net, 17cm wide, which frames a painted bouquet of flowers in the centre of the piece. The grid net with large squares is decorated with bands of flat stitches; between them are rows of rosettes, ones with uncrossed darning stitches with guipure semicircles and others with double darning stitches with an X-shape. The lower section is also decorated with flat stitches, cross guides with guipure and star-shaped dots; the stepped edge is finished with a buttonhole stitch. The work is produced with the same fine, twisted ivory linen thread.
