The Bell Model 47 holds the distinction as the first mass-produced helicopter to enter service with the U.S. Army. In the middle of the Korean War in 1952, the U.S. Army modified 16 Bell 47s designated H-13Cs for medical evacuation, as portrayed in the popular television series M*A*S*H. The helicopter on display is 1 of 265 TH-13s delivered to the U.S. Army as an instrument trainer in 1963. After its military service, it became part of the Aviation Career Education School of Dallas’ Skyline High School.
