The source of the name “KONOTOKI FUU SUGU” refers to the phase from a classical Chinese poem. The body is coated with a thickly black glaze and the notched hip is scraped off the glaze, which looks like looking at the uncapturable scene of a foothill after the rain. Inside the small, trimmed foot of the piece, the ‘RAKU’ mark of Kichizaemon XV is impressed. This work is one of the “HA no SHU” series.
