Building Collection

Building was a project that was born ‘strong’: an original, brand-new design, available in 11 assorted colours. A wide range of ceramic sizes for floors and walls that could be perfectly coordinated, employing two Iris Ceramica technologies working in synergy: 1200°C single-fire frost-proof technology for floors and Semigres for walls and coverings.
The material was carefully studied to rationalise production, ensuring high quality and minimising the risk of defects.
The strength of Building lais in the wealth of its range, which allowed customised laying, creating endless combinations and compositions that were ‘made to measure’. For coverings, the wide range of decorations offered a wealth of new alternatives and styles, while for floors, boards, ‘tozzetto’ materials and weaves enhanced laying possibilities.
Building was an ‘oversize’ range (including in its marketing) with a large tabloid sized catalogue, full of settings and with its incredible display area of over 400m2, specially created in the Iris Ceramica Showroom.
Building was perhaps the first maxi-collection made up of hundreds of articles, which subverted the concept of a dominant porcelain series, made up of 10-20 items, 3-4 colours and 1-2 sizes.
The aim was to facilitate the work of retailers and constructors, by supplying incredible ranges of coordinated solutions, with alternatives that interpreted and satisfied the needs of different tastes and styles, adapting to the spaces that needed to be covered.
To make all this possible required a greater degree of organisation, and in this Iris Ceramica proved perfect. From product design to production planning in order to manage so many items in large volumes; from its ability to portray and envision the compositional potential of the material, to its organisation skill in displaying it properly in its Showroom. The motto printed on the catalogues and in the large “Building Room” of the company Showroom was “Iris produces, you invent”.
