Now that their original function has changed, the riverside fronts of the old wharves, have become spaces containing an assorted mass of buildings of varying styles of architecture. Alongside current housing construction projects, there are the vast structures of the old warehouses, some of a more utilitarian character and others looking more noble. Then there are the great edifices of the old factories, often conditioned by their original function. Restored and currently being put to new uses, this heterogeneous array of buildings offer attractive possibilities for the expansion of residential areas along the waterfront.
