Calf n° 1

Venanzo Crocetti1930

Foundation Venanzo Crocetti

Foundation Venanzo Crocetti
Rome, Italy

The calf is portrayed in its first attempt to walk, the front legs sprawled and centre of gravity moved back show the intuitive will of the animal to maintain the balance that has been conquered so laboriously. The realistic rendering skills, which are always peculiar of the artist’s catalogue, lack of didactic complacency: whatever the meaning assigned to the subject might be, it isn’t forcibly suggested by the artist but it’s proper of the Nature that is portrayed, ensuring as eternal such a fleeting movement.
