An etching titled, Cargo Barges Anchored at Buoy in the Maas by the Dutch-Canadian artist Anthonius Philippus (Antoon) Derkzen van Angeren (1879-1961). Since there was insufficient capacity for all ships to be docked within the Rotterdam harbour, many ships were anchored just off shore near buoys. Short Biography: Antoon Derkzen van Angeren was born in Delft in the Netherlands in 1878. He first worked at the Porceleyne Fles ceramic factory as an artist after which he moved to Rotterdam in 1911 and became a lecturer at the Academy for Fine Arts where he worked until 1943. In 1952, he immigrated to Canada where he passed away in 1961. Derkzen van Angeren is seen as the founder of graphic art in Rotterdam.
