The author of the illustration showed the effects of a fire in the castle, which took place on the night of May 21-22, 1835. The fire, dispersed in the north-west part of the building, spread quickly. The flames consumed the entire north and east wing. Part of the office rooms and the documentation of the regency, which had its seat in the castle since 1809, were destroyed. The graphics document the condition before the end of reconstruction in 1840. The northern wing, covered with greenery, is devoid of a roof. The tower of St. Peter with the dome of the outer staircase visible next to it. On the right, at the tower of St. Jadwiga, there is the cupola of the clock tower, erected in 1674 by order of Princess Ludwika Anhalcka (1631–1680). To the left of the castle you can see the Church of the Virgin Mary and the Głogów Tower. In the foreground there is a staffage (green, a wagon drawn by two horses with a group of three people, in the lower right there are two men resting).
