Chalcosoma Caucasus is the largest beetle in Asia. The largest length of its specimens among our collection is 13.4 cm. Its entire body is dark and shiny, with a pair of arched and extremely long horn-like protuberance on the protothorax. In fact, there are three species in the genus Chalcosoma: Chalcosoma atlas, Chalcosoma Caucasus and Chalcosoma moellenkampi. Chalcosoma atlas is the most widely distributed and commonly found one, while Chalcosoma Caucasus is the largest in size. The three species look very similar in terms of appearance and body color, so it is not easy to distinguish them without careful observation. Experienced people can identify three species by the cross location of the central horns. They are nocturnal beetles with strong phototaxis, mainly found in tropical rainforests of Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries.
