Chamber in old mine

The underground tunnels of Wieliczka Salt Mine served as a tourist attraction ever since the high Medieval period. However, forgotten with time, they were rediscovered only thanks to the efforts of Alfons Długosz. In the 40s and 50s of the past century he saw the unique beauty of the Mine, and initiated its conservation and popularisation.
