The museum’s collections provide an opportunity to experience original mining technology artefacts, unique in the world, including a special collection of horse engines and machines, the Horn of the Brotherhood of Miners - a symbol of the mine’s wealth, a priceless collection of mining maps - the oldest in Europe, paintings by Jan Matejko, a collection of mining lamps and salt crystals. These objects are presented in 15 permanent exhibitions on the Salt Mine Museum Route.
The museum’s collections are very diverse and include a salt cellar collection that ranks among the most valuable in the world. These masterpieces of art surprise the visitors with their shapes, delight with the richness of detail, mastery of workmanship, precious materials and with their origin, as they were created by prestigious goldsmiths’ workshops and porcelain factories. The salt cellars are on display in the Saltworks Castle.
