This is one of the primate species living in Nyungwe Forest, covered in coarse black hair, but has a bare face, fingers, toes, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet. It has been listed by International Union for Conservation of Nature as an endangered species. Between 17,000 and 300,000 individuals estimated across the globe, 500 are located in Nyungwe National Park.
