Small photography (No. 80) belonging to a collection of [101] chromos (Tobacco Cards or Cigarette Cards) edited by perestrels [Madeiran Employment of Tabacos Lda and/or Perestrelos Photographos?] With Madeiran motifs, which includes about 12 dedicated to sport , namely encounters and football teams and aquatic polo. Numbers 80 and 81 represent the Marítimo SC, which had just won the Portuguese Championship (season 1925/26). The team coach was Hungarian Francisco Ekker. The history of sports celebrities and footballers were initially linked to tobacco manufacturers in England and the United States, who inserted small cigarette cards on cigarette packaging. In the late 20th century, also in Portugal, stickers came out in the tobacco packaging. The name Perestrellos is linked to the tobacco industry in Madeira, as well as photography since the late nineteenth century.
