The National Sports Museum exhibits testimonies of the history and culture of sport and its material and scientific development. Cristiano Ronaldo's boots, Nelson Évora's boots or the Grand-Bi, predecessor of the bicycle, are some of the pieces present in the National Sports Museum, which has almost 18,000 cataloged objects. Inaugurated on July 12, 2012, the year in which Portugal celebrated 100 years of participation in the Olympic Games, the space is the result of a public invitation addressed to sports federations to make known the heritage that athletes and the different modalities have left. Since then, the Museum has held more than 40 indoor and outdoor exhibitions and has had nearly 40,000 visitors.
