Church of San Sisto in Vasto

The church was part of a «grancia», that is to say a structure originally used for the storage of grains and seeds, already abandoned in the XVII century. After 1799, the same the abbey was given to the Zambra family of Chieti who, in turn, in 1968, donated it to today's Archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto. There are many archaeological remains entirely covered by spontaneous vegetation and it is nowadays an almost unknown monument to the city so in urgent need to be discovered, preserved and protected. Important instrument to build the identity and consciousness of a densely populated community - part of the city - in which the "Raffaele Mattioli" Polo High School of Vasto (Liceo scientifico, musicale, applied sciences), cultural reference point of the area is inscribed. The monument must be the object of care and maintenance as a characterizing sign of a historical specificity of that territory.
