Church of St. Peter of Afurada and Douro River

The first stone of the parish church was blessed on April 22, 1954. It can currently be observed in the wedge of the main door. Indoors, there are some coins and a scroll signed by the main entities present, which witness a propitiatory ritual. The ceremony was attended by numerous personalities, including the Minister of the Navy, the Civil Governor of Oporto, and the Mayor of Gaia. The new church was inaugurated on July 10, 1955.
