The use of historicized forms was imposed on the architect and was in line with the trend expressed in a brochure published by the Polish National Alliance National Convention in 1913, where this style was presented as the most suitable for Polish churches. At the time of its construction it was already a strongly traditionalist style, although still commonly used in American ecclesiastical buildings. The church itself has not fulfilled its original function since 1989. First it changed hands a few times, then it was sold to a religious community, now it has been put up for sale again.
