Compass box. Black rectangular box with a hinged lid. The interior is lined in green velvet and has grooves designed to hold the various parts of the compass. Compasses were instruments used in mathematics and technical drawing classes to draw circumferences and arcs. They were also used for measuring distances in geography and sailing classes and to take measurements in architecture classes. This box, compass and its accessories was part of a secondary school students' school supplies.
