The commemorative medal consists of a bronze bar pin and circular pendant. The bar pin is oval-shaped with ornate decoration around the edges. "VETERAN / U. C. V. / RICHMOND, 1907" is in relief in the oval. A clasp pin is soldered on the back. A small metal ring hangs from a small bottom loophole on the bar pin and links through a small loophole at the top of the silver-colored pendant. The bronze pendant is round with an outer circular band surrounding a relief image of the Jefferson Davis Monument, which occupies most of the area in the center. The following is in raised letters inside the band, "TO JEFFERSON DAVIS / PRESIDENT OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA." A small scroll floats in the air on each side of the column arising from the monument. "1861" is in raised digits on the left scroll while "1865" is in raised digits on the right scroll. The manufacturer's name and address, "The Whitehead & Hoag Co.,/ Newark, N. J.," is stamped on the back of the pendant.
