Coscinocera herculesi (androgynous)

Living in New Guinea and Northern Australia, Coscinocera herculesi is the largest moth found in Australia. It has a pair of wings with a maximum distance of about 27cm and a total area of 288 square centimiters. It ranks second in terms of surface area among all moths. It is the only individual hermaphrodite specimen reported in the world. The left anterior wing of this individual is feminine and the rest parts are masculine.
