Crucified Christ

The object does not display polychromy, but it bears distinct characteristics of the craftsmanship of Paweł Bryliński, a folk artist and the Master of Masanów.
The characteristic, harmonious arrangement of the folds of the perizonium, the rhythmic placement of the beard and ribs, as well as the optical shift of the center of gravity downward through the large, accentuated feet, reveal a compositional structure typical of a folk woodcarver. The figure of Christ occupied a central position on a wayside cross. The sculpture is assembled from three elements— a vertical body and two horizontal arms— which are connected using wooden dowels. Originally, it was nailed to the cross with iron nails, leaving traces on the hands and feet of the figure.
