The General Directorate of Prisons, under the Ministry of Justice, provided the key to the director of the Almería prison, Maximiliano Rodríguez Carrascosa, to use it to encrypt and decrypt secret messages. The key was delivered to Rodríguez Carrascosa in 1945 along with the instructions for its use and the indications of who should send encrypted messages and on what subjects: alterations of order, discipline, etc. This key passed from one director of the prison to the next, after the corresponding ceases, until 1954 as it appears in the preserved documents. Afterwards, it should have ceased to be used.
