The discovery of a copper object from the Bronze Age is a rare find in the Netherland. That is because bronze was regarded as a precious metal, and bronze objects were often melted down or used as offerings. It was common to make offerings in wetlands: peat bogs, or places by ponds and rivers. The hilt of this dagger was made of organic material, which has since decayed.
