Daisy embroidery design

Walthamstow, London, United Kingdom

This simple symmetrical embroidery design features a small clump of daisies. Some of the flowers have fully opened and others are still buds. The leaves and stems of the daisies are rendered with clear straight lines and block colour, making the design easier to embroider.

It was probably made as an education tool, in a note on the reverse of the design Whall has described and demonstrated the prick and pounce technique for transferring a design onto fabric.
