The lower central section of this image shows a choreographed performance by a sequence of individuals with human bodies and animals claws, one of whom (third from the left) appears to be wearing a bird mask. As the viewer follows the sequence, so the creature in question appears to metamorphose, which could represent shamanic transformation. Above these figures we see strings of aligned men looking towards the sky, stretching their arms upwards or towards the heavens in what appears to be an attitude of supplication or adoration. They have visible erect penises, some have feathered headdress and adornments tied around their waists, and they appear to hold palm leaves in their hands, possibly to make a rhythmic accompaniment to singing as in many Amazonian dances today.
