Nobility privilege granted by Philip III to Juan Sayago de Bolaños, resident of Fuente del Maestre (Badajoz).
Nobility privileges granted by the king as a cordial measure recognized the privileged status of that person and their descendants. The privilege had to be registered and validated with the lead seal of the Chancery. Nobility privileges were signed by the king, unlike enforcements of nobility, which were signed by the judges of the Royal Court and Chancery.
Privileges and exemptions for nobility were abolished by the Constitution of 1812, with well-known changes imposed during later periods of absolutism. The later Constitution of 1836 established the principle of legal equality for all Spaniards. The new situation, coupled with the removal of the Chanceries, limited any recognition of nobility to the concession of a title gifted by the king. Royal Chancery of Castilla.
