Born to Gihanga Ngomijana and Nyamususa, Nyirarucyaba was the only daughter of the First King and founder of Rwandan Kingdom, Gihanga.
The narratives/ myths illustrate her as the one who discovered the cows in Rwanda.
She is the only woman to be the ancestor of a clan, Abacyaba. It all started when Nyamususa, the mother of Nyirarucyaba and Nyirampirangwe her stepmother fought over an attribution of a hide. By trying to save her mother, Nyirarucyaba hit her stepmother who almost died. She fled her Father Gihanga with the fear of being punished. In exile she met a farmer called Kazigaba alias Gahu whom they married.
One day at their home, they received an animal they haven’t seen before and next day it gave birth. When Nyirarucyaba approached to see it well, she tasted on liquids that were dropping down One day Kazigaba went to visit Gihanga, to inform him that he married his daughter and took milk with him. When Gihanga sipped on it he felt well after long time of having abdominal pain. King sent his servants to follow Kazigaba and rob the cows and bring them to Rwanda
