Displaced is a robotic installation that refers to the displacements related to climate disasters, forced migrations, doubtful destinies and uncertainty. Since 2009, it is estimated that one person per second is forced to abandon his or her habitat due to natural phenomena caused by climate change: floods, draughts, earthquakes, tsunamis, deforestation, mining and contamination of water resources.
The work consists of a biped robot with the morphology and the behavior inspired by a bird and made with a biomaterial skin. Its walk is stiff and difficult, though constant. It moves in new territories, studying them and absorbing their characteristics, leaving behind its history or routine, adapting to changes in order to survive. The organism avoids threats, and therefore takes distance from the humans that led to its relocation. First Robotic Art Prize.
