About 4.3 km. from Okitsu, the station at Ejii was created on sandbanks formed by the Tomoe River, encompassing the natural harbor of Shimizu to the south. Located at about the midway point between Edo and Osaka, it prospered as a port of call for small cargo ships from all over the country. Depicted in the foreground are the fishing
village and ships anchored at Shimizu Harbor, in the middle is the Miho Pine Grove made famous in the legend of Hagoromo (“The Feathered Robe”).
