Doves

This painting of two doves flying against a bright blue sky was created by Yu Fei’an (1889-1959).Curly clouds are painted in the upper left and lower right corners of the painting, creating a balance of forms. The bold colour contrast adds depth to the composition of the painting. Yu has utilized extremely fine brushwork to portray the detailed features of the doves’ heads, wings, tails, and claws, which brings the birds to life against the flat background.
