Fan with pierced ivory sticks and tortoiseshell guards.
The recto is decorated with an etching satirising the impeachment of Henry Sacheverell, whose trial took place in 1710 after he gave an controversial sermon in 1709.
Sacheverell is seen in the centre of a group of clergymen and nobility while an angel crowns him.
The verso is etched with a grove of seven palm trees in a desert landscape illuminated by rays emanating from seven crowns that surround the fortified city of "The New Jerusalem".
